5 Fun Things to Do in Hocking Hills If It Rains

1. Explore a Museum

Whether you’re interested in history, art, or something a little more quirky, Hocking Hills has a variety of museums to choose from. Tour the Columbus Washboard Factory, the only remaining washboard manufacturer in the U.S., or watch an expert blow glass at the Ohio Glass Museum. The Pencil Sharpener Museum is another great place to explore and features over 3,400 pencil sharpeners under one roof.

2. Visit a Winery

Want to sip on a glass of locally-made wine while watching the rain fall? Head to Rockside Winery in Lancaster. Here, visitors can sample wines made from ten different varieties of grapes. Wine tasting is available during open hours and is just $1 per sample. Don’t miss happy hour from 5 to 8 p.m. and live music on Saturdays!

For even more vino, check out the Hocking Hills Winery in Logan. This family-oriented vineyard has approximately 2,000 vines and produces an excess of 12 tons of grapes annually. Visitors can tour the vineyards, sample different flavors, and attend a variety of annual events to learn more about the grape-growing and winemaking process.

3. Learn Something New

One of the best things to do in Hocking Hills if it rains is to take a class. At Hocking Hills Candleworks, guests can mix and match fragrances to create their own unique candle. You can also book a hands-on stained glass workshop at Scenic Way Gifts & Art Glass Studio on weekends. If you’re a foodie, try a cooking class where you’ll discover new techniques and recipes to bring home with you. We even offer cooking classes right at our inn! Read our blog for details.

4. Go Shopping

Nothing cures the rainy day blues quite like a little retail therapy. We suggest visiting the Logan Antique Mall where you’ll find over 100 dealers selling books, furniture, jewelry, and more. With so much to see, you’re sure to find the perfect souvenir! Be sure to stop by the Midwest Glass Outlet and the Hocking Hills Craft Mall just a few steps away.
