Why You Need to Experience the Tecumseh Outdoor Drama

Named one of the most mesmerizing dramas in the nation, Tecumseh! is the story of a legendary Shawnee leader who struggled to defend his homeland in Ohio during the late 1700’s. The play is held at the Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre, a huge outdoor venue in Chillicothe, Ohio. Sit beneath the stars and watch as galloping horses, live military cannons, and dazzling battle sequences grace the stage. It’s a thrill for audience members of all ages! What Is the Tecumseh Outdoor Drama?

About the Play

Tecumseh! was written by seven-time Pulitzer Prize nominee and Emmy recipient Allan W. Eckert. Since its premiere in 1973, the play has attracted 2.5 million visitors to Chillicothe. Over a hundred people are involved in bringing the performance to life each summer! With quality production elements like the Native American Music Score (recorded exclusively by The London Symphony Orchestra) and narration by actor Graham Greene, Tecumseh! is the most popular outdoor play in Ohio and the entire Mid-Western United States.
