Explore the Route 33 Brew Trail
The Route 33 Brew Trail was established in May 2018 as part of National Travel & Tourism Week. The trail includes six participating breweries and taprooms along Route 33. Pick up a passport at the Fairfield County Visitors Bureau or one of the stops and collect a stamp when you make a purchase at each location. Earn free swag, such as an Anchor Hocking Route 33 Brew Trail pint glass when you complete the trail.
Stops Along the Route 33 Brew Trail
Following along the Brew Trail will lead you to some of the best breweries in the Hocking Hills area. Are you ready to taste some delicious craft beer?
1. BrewDog DogTap
Just down the road from Loose Rail, BrewDog in Canal Winchester offers over a dozen beers for visitors to try. BrewDog started in Scotland and grew throughout the U.K. to the U.S. The brewery features an educational beer school and tours open to the public, as well as a premier in-house restaurant. The Ohio DogTap location also houses the world’s first craft beer hotel, the Doghouse. Sample a beer in the tasting area, stroll through funky art displays, and play a few arcade games while you’re there.
2. Loose Rail Brewing
This rustic microbrewery in Canal Winchester, Ohio, is housed in an old barn featuring outdoor seating and patriotic decor. Loose Rail Brewing offers patrons various pour sizes, from four to 64 ounces, so you can sample as many beers as you’d like. If you’re in town, don’t miss their Tuesday Crazy Train Trivia nights!
3. Combustion Brewery & Taproom
Combustion Brewery, known for their wide variety of fresh beer, is the first stop on the Brew Trail. The brewery is located in the small town of Pickerington, Ohio, and was once home to Pickerington Creamery. Learn about the building’s history and enjoy a mouthwatering cheeseboard in their open-air taproom. Combustion often hosts live music on the outdoor patio, too, so you’re guaranteed to have a good time.
4. Rockmill Brewery
The tasting room at Rockmill Brewery is located just 10 minutes outside of Lancaster, Ohio. The brewery is set on a former horse farm where guests can taste specialty brews modeled after the beers in Wallonia, Belgium. The quaint setting is perfect for a romantic picnic, family party, or a relaxing break from reality. Grab a bite to eat at Rockmill Brewery’s food truck, Backcountry Barbecue, or pick up a brown bag lunch from Kindred Spirits to bring with you.
5. Double Edge Brewery
If you’re looking for a lively brewery, Double Edge is the place to be! Double Edge is a favorite local hotspot in the heart of downtown Lancaster, and the taproom is open until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Our favorite beer from Double Edge is the Rustic Sunrise, a blonde ale infused with Tanzanian coffee. While you’re there, snack on a bag of gourmet popcorn as you enjoy your beer flight.
6. Brewery 33 Hocking Hills
The Brew Trail ends 10 miles outside of Hocking Hills State Park at Brewery 33. The brewery offers 15 handcrafted brews, including their unique cocktail-inspired beers. Their Mingo Mango Gose is a must-try! Brewery 33 also serves an in-house brewed non-alcoholic root beer and cream soda, so it’s the perfect place to bring the entire family, including kids and pets.
