5 of the Best Things to Do at Lake Logan State Park

1. Fishing

One of the main reasons so many locals and visitors flock to Lake Logan State Park is to reel in their next big catch. In fact, at Lake Logan, Ohio fishing is some of the best in the Hocking Hills! Many species of fish call this lake home including bluegill, crappie, bass, muskie, catfish, northern pike, and saugeye. Before dropping your line, be sure you have an Ohio fishing license! There are many options that can be tailored to your specifications. You can get a 1-day license or a 3-day license, or if you are a resident of Ohio, you can get your yearly license. Be sure to check out the ODNR website to see all of the licensing regulations.

2. Boating

Whether you plan on fishing from the water or simply enjoying a leisurely cruise, boating at Lake Logan State Park is a must! The park provides two boat ramps with easy access to the lake. These ramps can be used for motor-powered boats, canoes, or kayaks! For added convenience, boat docks can also be rented. If you plan on bringing your motor-powered boat, please note that it can only have up to 10 horsepower and is permitted to go up to 10 mph when on the lake.

3. Swimming

Another way to enjoy the water at Lake Logan State Park is by swimming. There is a fantastic 527-foot swimming beach located on the north end of the lake! This is the perfect opportunity to cool off or lounge beside the water while taking in the beautiful views.

4. Hiking

If you want to keep your feet on the ground, this Hocking Hills state park offers many hiking trails for you to explore! The Pine Vista Trail wraps around a hilltop and will give you some of the best views of our Hocking Hills area. Other hikers have noted that they were able to observe some of the local flora and fauna while on this trail. Another popular option is the Buckeye Trail. This iconic hiking trail totals 1,400 miles throughout Ohio, and 1.25 miles of that distance belong to Lake Logan State Park!

5. Picnicking

This classic outdoor activity gives you and your loved ones the opportunity to indulge in our brown bag lunches! There are six picnic areas with large parking lots around the lake. Most of these areas also have drinking water, grills, and restrooms available.

6. Birding

Lake Logan State Park is every bird enthusiast’s paradise! In addition to a variety of songbirds, eagles also make appearances here every once in a while. Bring your binoculars and get ready to discover a whole new arena for birdwatching.
