About Corkscrew Falls in the Hocking Hills
While Corkscrew Falls is not among the most visited attractions, people who have seen the falls have admitted it is one of the most beautiful areas in the entire park! Just a few years ago, the 10-foot waterfall rested on private property and was unavailable to the public. Today, visitors with a permit are able to view the falls and all of its natural splendor. Corkscrew Falls is a part of the 607-acre Boch Hollow Nature Preserve, so you know you’ll see plenty of beautiful sights and wildlife along the way.
Corkscrew Falls, Ohio Permit
Due to the area’s fragile ecosystem, The Ohio Department of Natural Resources requires a permit for all Corkscrew Falls visitors. Luckily, these permits are very easy to acquire. Simply visit the Ohio Department of Natural Resource’s website for permit guidelines and applications. Please note that these permits can take up to 30 days to process, so plan accordingly and apply in advance!
How to Find Corkscrew Falls in the Hocking Hills
You’ll find the trailhead for Corkscrew Falls at the corner of Zwinkle Road and OH-664. If you’re in need of parking, you’ll find a small paved shoulder nearby. The beginning of the half mile trail is marked by a sign that reads “This is Ohio Dept of Natural Preserves property. You must have a permit to be on this land.” From here, follow the trail down the creek. A large rock wall will keep you on the trail, so you won’t have to worry about getting lost.
