Hocking Hills Weather: How to Have Fun in Every Season!

Hocking Hills, Ohio, is famous for its spectacular natural beauty, and the area’s ever-changing climate allows visitors to experience the grandeur all year long. With each season, Hocking Hills weather brings new sights, activities, and adventures for guests to enjoy. You can cuddle up by the fire on chilly winter nights, or spend your days picking wildflowers in the spring. Before you start planning your trip to Ohio, book your stay at the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls and get to know a little more about the weather in Hocking Hills.

What to Expect from Hocking Hills Weather

Winter

Unlike other regions in the Northeast United States, Hocking Hills doesn’t go into hibernation during the cold winter months. Tree lighting ceremonies, museum and winery tours, and the Annual Winter Hike from Old Man’s Cave to Ash Cave are just a few of the many Hocking Hills winter activities offered from December through February. The landscape is especially breathtaking during this time of year and features sparkling icicles and fields blanketed with snow. Temperatures typically range from the low 20’s to the mid 40’s, so be sure to bundle up and dress in layers!

Spring

Meadows of blooming wildflowers and scampering wildlife make spring in southeast Ohio a sight to behold. From late March to early June, visitors can enjoy sunny days and starry nights that provide ample opportunity for outdoor recreation. The Maple Syrup Festival and the Spring Equinox Rim Hike are two of the most popular events of the season and are both held in March at Hocking Hills State Park. You’ll learn how to tap trees and make your own sweet sap during Maple Sugaring Weekend and can embark on a scenic 2-mile trek to Rose Lake during the Spring Hike. Wear a comfortable t-shirt and jeans for either event and be sure to bring your camera!

Summer

With so much to do and see, summer is the perfect time to enjoy a family vacation to Hocking Hills. You and the kids can canoe down the Hocking River, spend a night camping under the stars, or bury your toes in the sandy shores of Lake Logan. There are also plenty of fun events to attend like the Washboard Music Festival and the Lilyfest flower and crafts fair. Hocking Hills weather in the summer is always comfortable and ranges from 50 to 85 degrees, with cooler temperatures in the evening.

Fall

In October and November, leaf-peepers from across the country flock to Hocking Hills to admire the area’s stunning scenery. Visitors can drive down winding country roads on a fall foliage tour, or explore miles of hiking trails under a canopy of yellow, gold, and red leaves. There are also a number of events to attend around town like harvest festivals and farmer’s markets. Autumn usually offers cool nights and warm days, so all you’ll need to bring is a few cozy sweaters or a light jacket.
