1. Winter Hike | January

Held on the third Saturday of January, the Hocking Hills Winter Hike is a great way to kick off the New Year. This six-mile trek takes hikers from Old Man’s Cave to Ash Cave, offering stunning views of frozen waterfalls, dangling icicles, and white snow along the way. Refreshments like hearty bean soup and hot cocoa are available to warm you up throughout your journey. 

2. Sweethearts Hike | February

Take your sweetheart on a romantic stroll to Ash Cave during the annual Sweethearts Hike. An Ohio State Park naturalist will guide you to the recess cave and will make several short stops along the way. Once at the cave, couples can cuddle up by the campfire and help themselves to free cookies and hot chocolate.

3. Maple Tapping Festival | March

Did you know that Hocking Hills is home to an abundance of red and sugar maple trees? These trees are used to produce some of best maple syrup and candies in the area, inspiring the annual Maple Tapping Festival. 4. Wildflowers & Waterfalls Hike | April

If you’re an avid runner, sign up for the Hocking Hills Indian Run. It’s one of the most challenging runs in Ohio and crosses streams, gorges, and waterfalls both up and downhill. Runners can choose to complete a 5K, 10K, or 60K run depending on skill level. 

6. Grandma Gatewood’s Fall Color Hike | October

When the weather cools and the leaves begin to change, Hocking Hill State Park is a sight to behold. Guests can admire all of the stunning foliage on Grandma Gatewood’s Fall Color Hike. A naturalist will guide you on a rugged six-mile route to Old Man’s Cave and the Cedar Falls waterfall. It’s a great way to celebrate the season’s beautiful colors!
