There are many ways to explore the beautiful scenery of the Hocking Hills.  During your time at the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls this summer, you might try a Hocking Hills horseback riding adventure.  If you are an equine enthusiast with your own trusty steed, then you can take to the trails of Hocking Hills State Forest.  If you’re a more casual rider or just starting out, there are several area stables offering guided tours and trail rides.  Give these Hocking Hills horseback riding scenic tours a try during your summer getaway.

Spotted Horse Ranch

Named for the beautiful spotted pattern of Appaloosa Horses, Spotted Horse Ranch has guided trail rides that are either one or two hours long.  Or choose the Cowboy Cookout Ride, an all-day Hocking Hills horseback riding adventure.  The Cowboy Cookout Ride begins with two hours on the trail, then it’s time for a lunch break at the Chuckwagon.  Following lunch and a bit of storytelling, you’ll ride a couple more hours back to the ranch.  This is an experience that will take give you a new view of the Hocking Hills and provide you with a great vacation story to tell!

Happy Trails Horseback Rides

There are several Hocking Hills horseback riding experiences to choose from at Happy Trails.  Special rides like Breakfast with the Horses and Picnic with the Horses allow you to feed the horses to form a special bond.  Once you give a horse a treat or a meal, you’ll have a friend for life.  There are several Beginner and Intermediate trails to choose from that range in duration from one hour to two and a half hours. Information on their Expert trails is available upon request.

Uncle Buck’s Riding Stable & Dance Barn

Uncle Buck’s is a Hocking Hills horseback riding stable with a beer garden and saloon on site.The stable is located near Lake Hope and takes riders through Zaleski State Forest.  There are three scenic guided trail rides to choose from at Uncle Buck’s.  The Coal Bucket Trail is a one-hour ride suitable for all ability levels.  The Lookout Rock Trail is a two-hour ride that provides riders with views of an abandoned railroad bed, marshes, forest, and beaver dams.  The trail winds through the forest to Raccoon Creek and passes beneath Lookout Rock.  For an all-day riding experience, choose the Horseman’s Camp Trail, which provides experienced horseback riders with a more challenging ride. The horses at the stable are all well trained and very gentle, so even new riders will feel comfortable on the rides.
